RULES FOR OPEN BURNING - 2008

An open burning permit must be obtained for $10.00 (fee increase for 2008) from the Eastham Fire Dept.
Open burning begins on Jan. 15 and continues until May 1 or until discontinued by the state.
Fire must be extinguished each day by the 4 p.m. deadline.
Commercial burning IS PROHIBITED.

On the day(s) you choose to burn, you must call the Fire Department at 240-5931
AFTER 10 a.m. to assure burning is allowed on that day.

ONLY brush is to be burned, NOT ground cover. (Warning: poison ivy & poison oak, in particular,
can give off harmful fumes when burned, and may cause a skin rash and sore throat.)
NO flammable fluids can be used to start or increase the fire.
The fire must be supervised at all times, until extinguished.
Burn brush in SMALL piles only, no more than 4 feet x 4 feet x 3 feet high.
Burning must be AT LEAST 75 FEET from all buildings. Please be considerate of your neighbors.
Please try to keep a watering hose close by & frequently wet down the perimeter.
The Eastham Fire Department reserves the right to revoke any permit for just cause.
There will be no refunds on permits.

IF THE FIRE BURNS OUT OF CONTROL, CALL THE FIRE DEPT. IMMEDIATELY!
